Our Story
In 2015, I joined a tech company running a mental health platform as a provider, balancing my career while living out my unexpected dream of being a stay-at-home mom. For years, it worked perfectly—fitting work into nap times and evenings. As a remote, text- and video-based therapist, I was able to stay connected and provide essential Mind Care services to those in need.
When the pandemic hit in 2020, online therapy became the primary way to access mental health support. The overwhelming demand exposed a harsh reality—therapists were overworked and undercompensated. Despite the advanced education, years of training, and the ongoing costs of maintaining a professional license, the value placed on mental health professionals was nowhere near where it should be.
At the same time, the Black Lives Matter movement brought increased visibility to the mental health struggles within BIPOC communities. Living in VA as one of the few South Asian therapists, I saw firsthand the rising need for culturally-informed therapy. This inspired me to launch Mind Care Therapy—a practice committed to providing high-quality, inclusive mental health care, especially for marginalized communities.
